Stamp
Plan
- wedge clay
- make the base of the stamp
- attach the handle part of it
- carve out the moon part of it
Since this was my very first piece I made with clay in this class I was being very generous with how my stamp turned out. I loved how it looked and I thought it came together very well. I like the way it looked before it was in the kiln I just couldn't find it when it came out. I loved how the moon looked in the end and I would definitely make it again.
Small piece w/ underglaze
Face
Plan
- Wedge clay
- Make into some type of ball/oval
_ pinch the clay towards the middle to make a nose
- make the eyeball by pushing down with thumb

For this piece I was never planning on keeping it because I didn't know what I'd do with it. I felt that I shouldn't waste clay on something my family would just throw away. I never really like the way it looked from the beginning and that's why I made it into having only one eye. It never really satisfied what I wanted it to look like so it turned into slop.

Plan
- wedge clay
- Find a plate that I like
- Use the flatener and place the clay on the plate
- Apply pressure so its molded to the plate
- Wait for it to dry and then take it off of the plate mold
- Paint with underglaze and fire
My initial thought of this plate that I was gonna destroy it. I didn't like the way it looked without underglaze but given the name I had to paint a little of it. I liked the polka dots that I added and I think the color scheme went together well but the eyeball and the flipper were not my favorite. Now, I am very happy I kept it because I use it as a jewelry holder.
